Case Description: Client was stopped at a seatbelt checkpoint. Client was arrested and charged with Carrying a Weapon after the police found a loaded handgun in the vehicle. Mr. Nelson was able to successfully argue at the trial that it is not illegal in Arkansas to simply possess a handgun. After a trial, Mr. Nelson’s client was found not guilty.
Case Description: Client was pulled over for expired tags and forced to wait 45 minutes for a drug dog to arrive. The client was eventually arrested and charges with numerous drug offenses. Mr. Nelson argued at trial that the prolonged detention while waiting for a drug dog to arrive violated his client’s constitutional rights and was an illegal and excessive seizure. At trial, Mr. Nelson’s client was found not guilty on all charges.
Case Description: Client was ordered to pass drug tests. Client allegedly failed three drug tests and was charged with Contempt of Court. The Judge threatened the client with jail time, so the client hired Mr. Nelson. After a trial, Mr. Nelson was able to convince the Judge to find the client not guilty.
Mr. Nelson's client was charged with Domestic Assault Third Degree after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend. Mr. Nelson convinced the prosecutor to dismiss all charges without the need of a trial, which saved his client's job and immigration status.
Case Description: Domestic Battery case dismissed = Client was charged with Domestic Battery for allegedly hitting his pregnant wife. The client was suspended from his job after the arrest and was facing immigration consequences if convicted. Mr. Nelson was able to convince the prosecutor to dismiss the case just one month after the arrest. Mr. Nelson’s client never had to appear in court. Mr. Nelson saved his client’s job and immigration status.
